"I am a woman who looks into the insides of things and investigates... There is a world beyond ours, a world that is far away, nearby, and invisible. And there it is where God lives, where the dead live, the spirits and the saints."
— María Sabina

In the forests of British Columbia, we gather to receive the teachings of the Mazatec tradition, an ancestral practice that recognizes healing as remembering our place in the living web of Earth. Through sacred velada ceremony with a globally renowned Mazatec curandera, traditional limpias, and the guidance of experienced facilitators, we will explore how the mushroom reveals the mycelial nature of consciousness itself: networked, regenerative, inseparable from all life. This weekend offers a rare opportunity to step into reciprocity, to be dreamed by the medicine rather than consume it, and to return home to the intelligence that has always lived in your body, waiting to remember.

Our Mazatec Guardian

Alejandrina Pedro Castañeda is a Mazatec curandera (healer), cultural guardian and elder from Huatla de Jimenez, Oaxaca, Mexico. She works with ndi xhito, the mushrooms as well as doing auratherapies, traditional egg readings and other rituals.

Our journey is centered within reconnecting with the mycelial intelligence that lives beneath and within everything, the vast network of ancestral wisdom, Mother Earth's regenerative patterns, and the sacred mushroom teachings that remind us we are fruiting bodies of a larger whole. Through Mazatec velada ceremonies, traditional healing practices like limpias and auratherapy, and explorations of fungal consciousness as a model for living systems, we root back into our true nature: interconnected, cyclical, inseparable from the web of life. This is an invitation to remember what the mushroom has always known, that healing happens not in isolation, but through relationship with land, lineage, and the quiet intelligence of decomposition and renewal.

Supporting team

Alejandrina is supported in this journey by Ryan (Ra) James and Marisa Franco. They work by holding the group container, supporting ceremonies, facilitating sharing circles and adding in key integrative work that bridges the contexts of the indigenous world and the western mind.

  • Co-facilitator

Marisa is an herbalist, chef, poet, Earth intuitive and apprentice in non-dual, process oriented psychotherapy whose work focuses on restoring the relationship between people and planet through mentorship, rituals, recipes, and insights from the landscapes we live in. She has been traveling around the world since 2019 learning how to revitalize our connections to animacy through the subconscious into a place of radical accountability and embodied self- respect.

  • Systems futurist and relational architect

Ryan works at the intersection of indigenous wisdom, regenerative design, and expanded consciousness. He creates containers for deep transformation, where complexity becomes clarity, and healing emerges through remembering our kinship with living systems. Ryan guides facilitators and change-makers in cultivating the embodied intelligence needed to serve planetary regeneration with humility, reciprocity, and reverence for ancestral knowledge.
